Whatever Elmer Kelton says is worth listening to. Here are five of this famous author's best speeches, recorded live. Known for his award-winning fiction, Kelton, who in 1995 was named the greatest Western author of all time by Western Writers of America, is highly sought after as a keynote speaker.  About the Author
In 1995 the Western Writers of America named Elmer Kelton the greatest Western author of all time. He has written more than 40 novels over a 50-year period. He has won seven Spur Awards from Western Writers of America and numerous lifetime achievement awards and honorary doctorates. His award-winning fiction includes The Wolf and the Buffalo, The Time It Never Rained, The Day the Cowboys Quit and The Good Old Boys, which was made into a TV movie starring Tommy Lee Jones and Sissy Spacek. A native of Crane, in west Texas, Kelton earned a journalism degree in 1948 from the University of Texas after a two-year interruption to serve in the U.S. Army infantry during World War II. He worked as a farm and ranch writer for newspapers and magazines during the day and wrote fiction at night and weekends until he retired from his day job. His newest book "Six Bits A Day" will be published in November 2005.
